Our commitments

We are committed to contributing to the common good by conserving our resources. The 17 interconnected Sustainable Development Goals provide a blueprint for a sustainable future for all of us. Our long-term commitments to responsible business are specifically aligned with five of them.

Our SDG contributions

We are proud to offer a stable working environment, with many long-serving employees (some 40 years!) and intentionally low ratios of temporary contracts, building strong relationships between employees and with our customers over time. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment that promotes physical, mental and social well-being. We strive to support our employees and encourage work-life balance. The pandemic has profoundly changed the way we work. It was unthinkable to imagine going back to "the way things were before": everyone in the office every day, with the constraints of traffic and fixed schedules to respect. Our new remote office tools now enable us to work wherever we like, always with a view to efficiency and well-being. To meet our employees' new expectations, we had to reorganize our workspaces. We opened up the space, increased the number of meeting rooms, and refitted our catering room and showroom to comfortably accommodate both staff and customers.

A Responsible Wood Purchasing Policy

Felix believes in assigning economic value to the wood. Only by generating fair compensation for forest products will there be an intrinsic motivation at the place of origin to protect and secure the forests for the next generation.

Felix sources tropical hardwood through FSC® certified supply chains where available.

Wood stores biogenic carbon for as long as it remains in use.

FSC® certification covers forest management and the chain of custody. Products sold with an FSC® claim on the invoice come from FSC® certified or controlled sources (FSC® C207032).

Forest Stewardship Council®

Felix holds an FSC® Chain of Custody certificate (FSC® C207032). Felix promotes a responsible forestry policy and abstains from unacceptable forestry practises and acts according to the FSC® principles and criteria which are partly based on and contribute to 14 of the 17 SDGs, the Sustainable Development Goals anchored by the United Nations.

FSC® stands for a balanced balance between social, economic, and environmental interest. By means of a Chain of Custody (CoC) Felix maps out its entire supply chain. The FelixWood and Fiberdeck products covered by this certificate are identified by the logo below, which identifies and traces their sustainable origin.

Product purchases account for 66% of our carbon emissions. Wood composites account for 75% of materials purchased 95% of which come from recycled waste. Today, 90% of the metals used in our products are virgin. Our aim is to reduce this proportion as much as possible and switch to recycled metals.

We are now committed to reducing our carbon footprint, calculated across scopes 1, 2 and 3:

35% absolute reduction in CO2 emissions between 2023 and 2030 in scopes 1 and 2.
To achieve our targets, we plan to increase the use of recycled materials in our products by 40%.
Establish trust-based relationships with suppliers who share our commitments, by implementing emission reduction plans.

Our local and social initiatives

Located in Lambersart in France and Helmond in the Netherlands, our offices are set in a peri-urban area in a natural, wooded environment where life is good. Several initiatives in favor of a greener workplace have been put in place. We are members of the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) network of refuges, with an active approach to protecting biodiversity. Aware of the challenge of climate change in the years to come, we have decided to reduce our carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 by cutting our energy consumption (heating, air conditioning, lighting), with investment in heat pumps and an appropriate regulation policy.
